Property Claims
Investigating property claims is not unlike conducting a general insurance investigation; however the loss generally occurs in a foreign country. Substantiating proof of purchase and ownership go hand in hand with establishing the key facts behind the loss whether it be a genuine loss by an airline or from a carrier such as taxi, bus or cruise ship. It could also be a passive theft from a hotel room or car or an armed robbery, but our objectives remain the same.
Centricity sees countless claims where the alleged loss is supported by a court affidavit, but in some countries such affidavits in no way support the official loss or actual incident because claimants use this process first and then take the affidavit to the local police station to make the report. Once this is completed, the insured is then in possession of a court registered affidavit and a police report, neither of which confirm the incident.
Centricity has uncovered hundreds of cases where the original loss has been inflated to include items that were never in possession of the insured or the items never existed in the first instance.
Other losses investigated and found to be fraudulent are where receipts have been copied and printed from internet templates to substantiate purchases from stores which don't exist.
These claims are well documented within our system and such stores and locations are all recorded in InstantAXS.
